Turn right at the front of the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, at the end of the road, Hokai-ji is located. It is heavy traffic, but the temple is quiet.
You may have fun visiting a variety of seasonal flowers and trees. In particular, it is known as the temple of Hagi.
The last Shikken (regent) of the Kamakura shogunate, Hojo Takatoki lose the battle with Nitta Yoshisada. The place where Hojo Takatoki committed suicide at that time is located a little away from Hokai-ji. This is Harakiri Yagura in the ruin of Tosho-ji.
Hokai-ji is the memorial of Hojo Takatoki.
