Hojo of Enkakuji is located at the back of the Butsuden. Hojo is buildings priest to live.
There is a gate with splendid carvings called Chokushi-mon. The carving of the dragon flying has a taste of a western-style dragon rather than a Chinese one I feel.
There are one hundred Kannon on the left side of the gate. Some of Kannon pose uniquely.
There is a juniper tree that is a natural monument of the city specified in the garden. They say it was planted by Engaku-ji’s founder, Mugaku Sogen, which means the tree is a considerable age.
There is a beautiful garden at the back of the Hojo.
